Our Story: From Struggle to Trust
Pallavi AbrolOur Story: From Struggle to Trust
What began with one woman’s difficult search for ethnic wear in Canada has grown into a trusted family-run boutique serving clients nationwide. Contact us — we’d love to hear from you.
How It Began
In 2014, Pallavi Abrol — Founder & CEO, was in the midst of postpartum recovery after welcoming her second child. Like many new mothers, she was navigating both the physical changes of her body and the emotional weight of wanting to feel herself again. All she wanted was a piece of clothing that could bring comfort, beauty, and a sense of normalcy back into her life. But in Canada, finding authentic South Asian clothing that fit and felt right was nearly impossible.
What began as a hopeful purchase from a well-known online store in India quickly unraveled into a painful experience. Weeks of waiting, unexpected customs duties, and a package that felt more like betrayal than delight. The garments inside bore little resemblance to the photos—leaving not joy, but deep disappointment. For Pallavi, already navigating a vulnerable chapter in life, the lack of transparency and care struck a chord. What should have been a moment of happiness became yet another reminder of feeling unseen.
But from that moment of disheartenment came a powerful resolve. Pallavi chose not to let that experience define her—but to transform it into something meaningful for others. She believed that no one, especially new mothers or anyone seeking clothing that truly embraces them, should feel that same sense of loss. With encouragement from her sister-in-law, she connected with reputable wholesalers across India and placed a modest trial order.
To her astonishment, every piece sold out within a month. That initial spark of disappointment became the foundation of a new vision: a boutique built on trust, dignity, and the promise that what you see is exactly what you receive. Today, our brand stands as a testament to authenticity, care, and the belief that fashion should uplift—not deceive.
The Vision
Pallavi founded UC Ethnic Wear to embrace high-quality South Asian clothing for all genders, body types, and occasions — a trustworthy brand built on authenticity, fair value, and personal service.
Community and Craft
Our women’s collections are often semi-stitched — such as sarees and lehengas — with stitched sets and fusion styles also available. To give every client a seamless experience, Pallavi has built relationships with skilled seamstresses across the GTA. After carefully testing their work, she confidently recommends them to clients who need tailoring, ensuring a personalized fit without regrets.
One plus-size client shared her relief: “I didn’t need to go hunting for extra fabric to finish my outfit.” In the past, semi-stitched imports rarely accounted for her size. At UC Ethnic Wear, she received what she needed — and felt heard, seen, and valued. That’s our purpose: confidence and dignity for every body.
Expanding & Evolving
2016: Curated trips to India expanded our range to include stitched outfits, lehengas, sarees, and salwar kameez sets.
2020 (COVID-19): As the pandemic reshaped retail and event wear needs, we expanded into men’s collections — kurta pajamas and Modi jackets — so families could shop close to home with confidence.
Vishal Abrol helped lead men’s wear, managed inventory, and supported daily operations.
2025: Arnav Abrol launched our online front — taking over social platforms and building our e-commerce site — bringing the boutique experience to clients across Canada.

What you see in our photos is exactly what you receive. We focus on authenticity, comfort, and inclusive sizing so clients never have to worry about hidden costs or outfits arriving incomplete.
Women’s collections include semi-stitched sarees and lehengas, stitched sets, and fusion wear; men’s collections feature kurta pajamas and Modi jackets.
Semi-stitched outfits are sold as-is; customization and tailoring are the client’s responsibility and are not included in the purchase price.
To help, we can connect clients in the GTA with trusted seamstresses. For other locations, please contact us and we will try our best to refer you if we have connections; otherwise, finding a local seamstress is up to you.
Stitched outfits come ready-to-wear and follow the size chart provided in each listing; they are accurate to average international sizing.
If alterations are needed, they are also the client’s responsibility.
Pallavi puts her full passion into curating each piece, ensuring high quality and fair value. Our goal is simple: to give you confidence that your order is safe, trustworthy, and tailored to your needs.
